• Sustainable Island Products, Membership Anniversary with KKCC

    January 18, 2021
2021 marks the 6th year anniversary for Sustainable Island Product as a Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce member.  A very involved member with the chamber, Elizabeth Elkjer is the chair of the Young Professionals Leadership Council and past chair of the Sustainability Committee.  The company is the sponsor of our Young Professionals Future Focus Initiative and they have been the sponsor for all paper products at chamber AfterHours events. Their products are available in quantities for office use, home parties and large events.

Sustainable Island Products, also a member of the The Hawaii Restaurant Association, is a family-owned, Hawaii-based distributor of more than 450 compostable and recyclable products.  They supply eco-friendly and sustainable alternatives to many single-use items routinely used in Big Island restaurants, grocery stores, schools, hotels, and offices. SIP’s product lines include cold cups, deli containers, hot cups and soup containers, cutlery, plates, clamshells, napkins, paper towels, pizza boxes, glass bottles, and jars.

An essential part of their mission is to take responsibility for doing everything they can to protect our beautiful island home. As part of this commitment, they recently became a Certified B Corporation, constantly striving to find new ways to be more economically and environmentally sustainable. They believe our legacy is intimately linked to environmental stewardship. That’s why they guarantee the compostable nature of our products as well as the quality of their performance. Every day, they create a positive social impact while fostering a more natural and healthy Hawaiian economy, with locations on Oahu, Big Island and Maui, and also serve Kauai, Molokai and Lanai.
