GOVERNOR'S LUNCHEON 2025
This summer, the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce (KKCC) hosted our highly anticipated Governor's Luncheon at the beautiful Fairmont Orchid on the Kohala coast of Hawaiʻi Island. This signature event welcomed over 300 guests, including leaders from business, government, education, and non-profit sectors.
Governor Josh Green, M.D., delivered a compelling keynote address that reflected on statewide priorities and progress, engaging the audience with sincerity and optimism. He highlighted healthcare, housing, homelessness, and climate resilience. See Governor Green's presentation below.
On behalf of the Kona-Kohala Chamber, Board Chair Jen Johansen expressed gratitude to Governor Green for his continued commitment to the people of Hawaiʻi Island and our entire state.
She also announced the launch of the KKCC 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, a purposeful guide grounded in our commitment to the community while empowering members to engage in our vibrant organization.
The Governor also led the Chamber's Board of Directors in an annual pledge that affirms their commitment to the organization's mission: To provide leadership and advocacy for a successful business environment in West Hawaiʻi.
Southwest Airlines, the event's presenting sponsor, was represented by Lillian Santos Stables, who shared how Southwest has grown to employ nearly 700 Hawaiʻi-based team members and remains committed to serving the islands with care, connectivity, and investment in local communities. And, two lucky attendees each won a complimentary Southwest flight!
A highlight of the luncheon was the presentation of the 2025 Chamber Member of the Year Award to Mendy Dant of Fair Wind Cruises. Recognized for her steadfast leadership, environmental stewardship, and enthusiastic participation in Chamber events and advocacy, Mendy was honored for exemplifying the Chamber's values of leadership, respect, and aloha.
Lydia Hoeppner was also recognized for her unwavering commitment to the Kona-Kohala Chamber members. She concludes her tenure as our Membership Manager, finishing strong after eight years of outstanding service.
The event also featured a Business Expo with engaging exhibitor displays and intentional networking opportunities, supported by sponsors Sustainable Island Products and Hawaiian Telcom.
