Join us for a special screening of the Emmy-nominated KEEPER OF THE BAY, presented by The Kohala Center and Kahilu Theatre! This documentary tells the story of Aunty Cindi Punihaole and her dedication to protecting Kahalu‘u Bay, a vital marine sanctuary on Hawai‘i Island. Over her nearly 20 years with The Kohala Center, Cindi has worked to reduce ecological stressors and increase resilience at Kahalu‘u through Hawaiian cultural practices, scientific research, strategic partnerships, and an enduring educational program powered by community volunteers.

KEEPER OF THE BAY is an inspiring story of aloha ‘āina in action and the power of grassroots community stewardship. A Q&A session with Aunty Cindi will follow the film and include discussion of ongoing restoration efforts and how you can help support community-based stewardship rooted in traditional knowledge. Tickets are $17 general admission and $13 for keiki and kūpuna.
