July 4 Race Day Traffic Flow From Historic Kailua Village To Keauhou

The Kona Marathon, Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and 5K Run will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026. There will be a modified race day traffic flow from Historic Kailua Village to Keauhou. 

3:30 am – 8:30 am: Kuakini Highway from Old Airport Park to Palani Road & Palani Road to Ali`i
Drive closed to south-bound traffic. North-bound traffic on both roads will be open.

3:30 am-1:00 pm: Ali`i Drive from Kailua Pier to Keauhou Shopping Center is closed to
southbound traffic. North-bound traffic on Ali’i Drive will be open.

Runners begin at the Royal Kona Resort on Ali`i Drive, heading north past King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel to Kuakini Highway and proceeding north to the Old Kona Airport Park. Runners circle back in the south-bound makai lane, continuing on Ali`I Drive to the Keauhou Shopping Center in the south-bound lane.

North-bound Ali`I Drive is open throughout the day.

Southbound Ali'i Drive, from the Kailua Pier to the Keauhou Shopping Center, will be closed throughout the day to accommodate runners. The northbound lane will remain open to traffic.

REMEMBER TO ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO GET TO YOUR DESTINATION.

Motorists are advised to use caution between 4:00 am and 1:00 pm.
