QNHCH Offers New Evusheld Monoclonal Antibody
Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital (QNHCH) is now providing the COVID-19 preventative medication Evusheld. Evusheld is a monoclonal antibody that helps prevent COVID-19, and is for people who are not infected but considered at high risk and may not have developed strong antibodies from vaccination, or were unable to be vaccinated.
Examples of high-risk conditions include organ transplant, HIV, active cancer, and rheumatology patients on immune suppressive drugs. Evushield is not for vaccine-eligible people refusing vaccination, nor is it for people with normal immune systems but are worried their immunity is low. Evusheld is a simple injection provided in the QNHCH Infusion Center.
