KAMUELA, HI - MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans at Queen's North Hawai'i Community Hospital are now being conducted with a brand new Siemens Magnetom Altea MRI. The new 1.5T MRI has a smaller footprint, a larger opening making it more comfortable for patients, updated software, and a detachable table for easier patient transfers. The new MRI has a wide, 70-cm bore and BioMatrix technology that includes the Select&Go Interface, powered by artificial intelligence to enhance workflow productivity, removing the need for anatomical landmarking, enabling faster patient positioning.

MRI is a noninvasive medical imaging test that produces detailed images of almost every internal structure in the human body, including the organs, bones, muscles and blood
vessels, using a large magnet and radio waves.
