National Shelter Appreciation Week!

It’s National Shelter Appreciation Week! From November 5 to November 11, we are celebrating our dedicated team of lifesavers.

Hawaii Island Humane Society is a private non-profit organization. We depend on donations and grants to stay open. Every day, we provide veterinary care, diverse enrichment, a clean comfortable environment, lots of love, and more for all of the animals in our shelters.

Animal sheltering is not always puppy kisses and kitten cuddles. Very often, our days can include blood, sweat, and tears. It is emotionally exhausting and physically taxing, but to us, it is so worth it. We know that our commitment has made a difference in the lives of many, and that’s what keeps us going.

If your life was made better because of HIHS, please join us in recognizing and honoring our shelters and the compassionate people who work tirelessly to care for hundreds of animals all year long.

Here's how you can celebrate HIHS this week:

 Visit our shelters and donate! This year, when you make a donation at our shelters, you can share a message of love and support with our donation signs! Our shelters will be open* this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Stop by, make a donation, and show your gratitude for our team!

 Donate online with our Shelter Appreciation Week fundraiser! When you donate online, you can leave a special note. We’ll share your notes of appreciation with the staff!
