• Miss Kona Coffee Partners with Keauhou Shopping Center to Host Keauhou Community Day

    Fostering community, embracing Kona Coffee’s legacy, and stewarding the pae ‘āīna
     
    KEAUHOU, HAWAI‘I (Sept. 14, 2023) – Miss Kona Coffee 2023 Shyla Victor and Keauhou Shopping Center are excited to announce their partnership for the upcoming Keauhou Community Day event. Set to take place on Sept. 23, this mālama ‘āina event aims to bring the
    community together for a fun day, giving back to the ‘āina, and celebrating the rich heritage of Kona coffee.

    “I am so grateful to collaborate with Keauhou Shopping Center to host the very first Keauhou Community Day,” said Victor. “This is an amazing opportunity for the community to come together and mālama ʻāina. I look forward to seeing everyone there!”

    The Keauhou Community Day will focus on cleaning up and collecting ‘opala along Ali‘i Highway-Māmalahoa Bypass Road. This family-friendly event will also include a complimentary lunch for volunteers provided by KTA Keauhou and Tropics Tap House at Keauhou Shopping
    Center’s courtyard. Attendees can enjoy live music performances, a jumping castle, and keiki crafts offered by KidXClub, sponsored by Big Island Collison Center.

    When: Saturday, Sept. 23
    7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. - Check-in at Tropics Tap House
    9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Clean-up of Ali‘i Highway-Mālamahoa Bypass Road
    12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Lunch and Entertainment at Keauhou Shopping Center

    Keauhou Community Day welcomes everyone to join us in caring for our ‘āina and celebrating the rich history of Kona coffee. Whether you are a coffee lover, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking for a day of fun-filled activities, this event promises something for everyone.

    Keauhou Shopping Center will provide cleaning supplies, and trash bag collection services will be offered by Mayor Mitch Roth and the Hawai‘i County Department of Public Works.
     
    Volunteers are encouraged to bring water in reusable bottles, reef-friendly sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses or protective eyewear, and work gloves.
