• Kona Hospital Foundation GivingTuesday Campaign to Fund New Baby Bassinets for Women’s Health

    November 10, 2025
The Kona Hospital Foundation is proud to announce its 2025 GivingTuesday campaign, focused on raising $57,200 to purchase 13 brand-new, state-of-the-art baby bassinets for the Women’s Health Services (WHS) unit at Kona Community Hospital.

GivingTuesday — a global day of giving celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving — will take place on December 2, 2025. This year, the Kona Hospital Foundation invites the community to join together in giving every newborn a safe and comfortable start to life.

Each year, more than 400 babies are born at Kona Community Hospital. The Women’s Health Services team provides compassionate, high-quality care for mothers and newborns, offering seven private rooms where families can labor, deliver, and recover together. However, the unit’s long-serving bassinets — stainless-steel models designed decades ago for nursery care — have reached the end of their safe, usable life, showing signs of rust, cracks, and broken parts.

“The bassinets have served countless families over the years, but it’s time to replace them with safe, modern equipment designed for today’s ‘rooming-in’ care model,” said Joei Feke, Executive Director of the Kona Hospital Foundation. “These new bassinets will help ensure that every baby born at Kona Community Hospital begins life in comfort and safety.”

The new Nara Bassinets are height-adjustable, feature soft-touch materials for easy cleaning, and include locking wheels and tip-prevention design — offering safety, comfort, and peace of mind
    for patients and staff alike.

Donors can support the campaign in several ways:

Text-to-Give: Text BABY25 to 50155 to receive a direct giving link
Mail: Kona Hospital Foundation, 79-1019 Haukapila St, Kealakekua, HI 96750

Updates on the campaign’s progress will be shared on the Kona Hospital Foundation’s social media channels. If the community goal is not met by December 3, 2025, the Kona Hospital Foundation will cover the remaining balance to ensure Women’s Health Services receives all 13 bassinets.

“GivingTuesday is all about coming together to lift up our community,” Feke added. “Every gift, no matter the size, helps us give our keiki a safe beginning and our families peace of mind.”
