Kona Commons Unveils Brand Refresh Featuring
    Hawai`i Artist Siena Baldi’s Imagery
In celebration, the shopping center is giving away multiple $500 shopping sprees

Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i (February 1, 2022) – Kona Commons, West Hawai`i’s “Best Shopping Center” for 11 years, unveiled new, imaginative imagery as part of a brand refresh today.  The shopping center partnered with artist Siena Baldi to create the exciting new look. Baldi’s vibrant colors, animation, and creative interpretations are at the heart of the series of images which add a new twist to the center’s personality.

Commissioned by the shopping center in the fall of 2021, Baldi describes her process as “filtering reality through her kaleidoscope mind” to envision art that “combines humor, education and optimism in an unexpected way.”

Kona Commons and Baldi collaborated to create one-of-a-kind images including surfing scissors and palm fronds made of combs, pencil urchins and colander jellyfish, toothbrushes FaceTiming each other, a reimagined
cheeseburger, and a plate of sushi featuring “teeth safe” wasabi sunscreen.  The playful artistic expressions complement the shopping center’s message of being able to shop for “everything from A to Z”.

Kona Commons has taken Baldi’s art and enhanced it with copy and catch phrases to present a cohesive, eye-catching series of banners, advertisements, and signage for the shopping center. “Siena’s art is the perfect companion
to the shopping center’s image,” says Nancy Sakamoto, general manager for Kona Commons. “This locally-owned and managed center cherishes its island home, and whenever possible incorporates island-relevant designs. The center’s owners are committed to supporting locally-based talent and are thrilled with Baldi’s imagery.”
In celebration of the new look, Kona Commons is holding a contest using coloring books with Siena’s new artwork.  Coloring books may be picked up for free (while supplies last) at participating Kona Commons retailers.  Three winners will each receive $500 shopping sprees to Kona Commons.  Details of the coloring contest may be found at www.konacommons.com/events.

The campaign’s debut goes hand-in-hand with the opening of four new stores at the center this year, which will bring it to 100 percent occupancy. The first of the stores is Island Naturals, which opened its 15,000-square-foot market and deli on January 18. It will be joined in the Spring by Aloha Grown, Majestic Nails, and Skechers.
