    May 16, 2019
NETWORKING—Mahalo to all the players and sponsors who participated in the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce’s 24th Annual Golf Tournament Friday, May 10 at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Hualalai Golf Course at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.

With gorgeous sunshine and perfect weather all day, players enjoyed beautiful views of Hualalai and Maui as they played the course.

Congratulations to the first place team from West Hawaii Concrete with 57 points: George Purdy, Jason Macy, Mel Macy and John Watterson.

There were two teams scoring 58 points, so tie-breaker rules applied, where points scored were determined starting from hole #18 on down. The second place winners included Duane Bullard, Jared Keanaaina, Corey Johnson and Trent Walter. In third place was the West Hawaii Today team with Jay Higa, Ernest Fukeda, Jr., Jon Hirata and Lester Kodama.

All teams chose prizes in the order of best scores. First, second and third place winners also received engraved whiskey stones produced by Kona Engraving.

Women’s Longest Drive was earned by Kiley Umeda, while Jay Higa took the men’s longest swing. Closest to the Pin winner was Pam Latinis.

Two hole-in-one contests offered the chance to win a 2019 Honda Civic Sedan, courtesy of Big Island Honda Kona, and $10,000 cash courtesy of ProService Hawaii. No hole-in-ones were achieved this year, but perhaps next year.

Mahalo to Josh Silliman of Mauna Kea Resort for serving as pro in the Beat the Pro contest. Golfers who were able to “beat the pro” went home with a Mauna Kea Resort orange cap and were entered for a chance to win a round of golf for four at Mauna Kea Resort.

KKCC’s golf committee of Pam Latinis, Ross Birch and Jim Hussey did a wonderful job once again with this year’s tournament.

"We are so grateful to Hualalai Resort for hosting our tournament each year,” said KKCC Executive Director Wendy Laros. “Head Golf Professional Jake Belveal and his team did an excellent job. Our members are excited to have the opportunity to play at this Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. A big Mahalo to the players, volunteers, donors, and sponsors for making this year's tournament an especially fun and successful fundraiser for the Chamber.”

A special mahalo to our Chamber member volunteers who helped with checking in players and serving as witnesses on our contest holes: Diandra Dickinson, Kelly Drysdale, Lisa Freudenberger, Holly DeGeal, Kumai Obrey, Keller Laros, Sherri Hered, Franz Weber, Rebecca Logan and Pam Latinis.
