    Kailua Village Business Improvement District begins the festivities on Friday, November 24, the day after Thanksgiving, with the lighting of the Christmas tree at Emma’s Square (located across from Hulihee Palace). This tree lighting tradition and program gets started at 5:45 pm. Special musical performances and keiki hula performances from Halau E Hulali Mai I Ka La. Plan for a festive selfie spot with Miss Kona Coffee and Miss Aloha Hawaii as the tree lights up and signals the start of the holiday season, welcoming everyone to Historic Kailua Village with a reminder to shop, dine and buy local.  Read More

    Hana Hou! Street Eats returns on Saturday, December 2. Alii Drive will close to vehicle traffic as food trucks and food vendors line up in Historic Kailua Village from 11 am to 5:00 pm.

    The Kailua Village Business Improvement District rolls out a second Street Eats Food Truck Festival offering a wide variety of cuisine options from food trucks, food vendors and restaurant pop ups from around Hawaii Island. Entertainment through the day includes:

    11:30-12:30    Halau Halau Ka‘eaikahelelani, under the direction of kumu hula Yuki Ka‘ea Lyons and Lily Kahelelani Lyons Dudoit

    1:30-2:30         Darlene Ahuna

    3 pm to 4pm    Natalie Ai Kamauu

    Dec. 10 @ 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

    Kokua Kailua, the popular monthly village stroll on Alii Drive, happens one Sunday each month from 1pm to 6pm. Kona’s Historic Kailua Village closes to vehicular traffic and becomes a festive, pedestrian-only outdoor marketplace that makes for a fun family-friendly day. Leashed dogs are welcome to stroll too.

    Kokua Kailua stretches from Kailua Pier through Historic Kailua Village to Hualalai Road. Highlights include nearly 100 vendor booths showcasing the work of local artisans and crafters, musicians, and merchants offering a fantastic shopping experience and delicious dining options. Read More
