• HPM Welcomes New Chapter in Manufacturing Leadership

    July 10, 2026
Some exciting news to share about the future of HPM Building Supply, and it starts with two people who have helped shape who they are today.

Adrian Murphy, who has led their Manufacturing team for years, is stepping into a new role as Senior Advisor, Lumber & Vendor Strategy. It is the beginning of a planned, multi year transition toward retirement, one that lets them keep drawing on Adrian's 22 years of industry experience and the vendor relationships he has built along the way.

Adrian joined HPM as a lumber buyer and, over 12 years, grew into a leader across Purchasing, Products and Logistics, and Manufacturing. He played a key role in opening their West Coast Distribution & Consolidation facility in Fife, Washington in 2023, and he has been instrumental in the current construction of our Chehalis Distribution & Treating plant.

"HPM is a unique company, and being part of a completely local, 100% employee owned business has shaped how I have viewed every role I've held here," Adrian shared. "I'm grateful for the opportunities HPM has given me and proud to continue contributing to its long term success in this new capacity."

Stepping into Adrian's role is Colin Thompson, promoted to Vice President of Manufacturing and Construction. Colin will oversee component manufacturing, custom metal roofing, wood treating, our door shop, HalePlus (our factory built home program), and our Washington operations.

Since joining HPM in 2023, Colin has helped grow HalePlus and led internal construction projects. He brings 22 years of construction and development experience, including running his own general contracting firm and leading large scale commercial projects here in Hawaiʻi.

"I'm honored by the trust HPM has placed in me," Colin said. "My focus is on building a scalable 'HPM Way' that unifies our manufacturing operations under a common set of processes, performance standards and operating principles, so every location delivers the same quality and customer experience while maintaining the flexibility to serve local markets."

    What this means for you
This leadership transition comes at an exciting time. Colin will lead the opening of our new Chehalis Distribution & Treating facility this fall, a project he and Adrian developed together. At about 36,000 square feet on 15 acres, this state of the art facility gives HPM greater control over our treated lumber and building material supply chain, so we can continue to be a reliable source for both professional builders and homeowners across Hawaiʻi.

As Adam Bauer, our President and Chief Operating Officer, put it: "Adrian's leadership has significantly contributed to our company's growth and ability to serve our customers. His deep lumber knowledge and vendor expertise will continue to be invaluable as he moves into this senior advisory role. Colin brings the operational discipline and forward looking mindset to guide this next phase of capacity building investment. His expanded role unifies manufacturing and construction under one leader, and we are confident in Colin's ability to continue to strengthen the product and service reliability that our customers across Hawaiʻi depend on."

We are proud of the heart and character both Adrian and Colin bring to HPM, and we are excited for what this growth means for the way we serve you, our customers, in the years ahead.
