• Health & Wellness Embraced by Kona-Kohala Chamber

    KAILUA-KONA (May 19, 2019)—Leading West Hawaiʻi’s business community, the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce recently added a Health & Wellness Committee to a strong line-up of standing committees that support the Board of Directors of this non-profit member organization.

    Ali‘i Health Center Executive Director Clayton McGhan was appointed as the Chair of the Health & Wellness Committee. He explains, “This is a unique opportunity to pull together a multitude of providers as well as employers to explore issues and seek solutions that will benefit our community.” He adds, “The Chamber is a wonderful organization and I’m truly honored to serve in this role.”

    The goal of this committee is to promote increased access to healthcare and wellness services in West Hawaiʻi. The objectives include: (1) explore health and wellness issues and concerns of Chamber members and the community, (2) support the local health and wellness industry and raise awareness of local resources, and (3) plan and conduct the Chamber’s upcoming Health & Wellness Fair scheduled on September 18, 2019 at the AfterHours event hosted by Hospice of Kona.
     
    Executive Director Wendy Laros elaborates, “After a year-long exploratory process as a Chamber working group, this new committee shows deep dedication to the importance of this topic to our community.” She continues, “Our Chamber works to strengthen the local economy and promote our community. We know that a healthy economy needs healthy people.”
