• HCFCU Intern Sean Kobayashi Honored as Hawai‘i County Intern of the Year

    April 24, 2026
Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i — Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) is proud to share that Sean Kobayashi, a marketing intern with the credit union in 2025, has been recognized as the Hawai‘i County Intern of the Year in the Private Sector category.

Kobayashi received the award at the 2026 Hawaii Internship Summit, hosted by the Workforce Development Council. The recognition highlights outstanding internship experiences across the state and celebrates excellence in work-based learning.

A student at University of Hawaii at Manoa, Kobayashi joined HCFCU’s Marketing Department in the latter part of 2025. During his time with the credit union, he supported a range of projects that strengthened both internal operations and member-facing efforts.

One of his key contributions included assisting with a comprehensive review of HCFCU’s online reputation and digital presence. His work helped guide future strategies to better engage with member feedback and strengthen the credit union’s visibility and responsiveness online. In addition, he supported marketing operations, contributed to creative projects, and assisted with updates to important member resources.

Kobayashi also took part in community-focused efforts during his time at HCFCU, stepping in to support team members across departments and building positive relationships along the way.

“We’re really proud of Sean and all that he accomplished during his time with us,” said Nellie Medeiros, Corporate Development & Marketing Manager at HCFCU. “He was thoughtful in his work, open to learning, and always willing to help wherever he was needed. It’s been awesome to see his growth, and we’re so happy to see him recognized in this way.”

Kobayashi was previously involved in HCFCU’s youth programs, making his internship a natural next step. From student participant to intern, his journey shows what’s possible when local students are given opportunities to learn, grow, and stay connected to home.

HCFCU extends its congratulations to Kobayashi and looks forward to seeing all that he accomplishes in the years ahead.
