HAWAII COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION MARKS ONE-YEAR
IN HILO WITH SAFE, FUN DRIVE-THRU CELEBRATION

HILO, HI — Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union’s Hilo Branch welcomed more than 600 people on Saturday, June 25, when the credit union celebrated its first anniversary with a drive-thru celebration offering giveaways and free bentos to-go at its Aupuni Street location. The credit union’s Hilo Branch opened its doors last year.

The event provided a fun opportunity for Hilo and East Hawaii residents to experience the credit union’s familiar welcoming spirit in an event that prioritized the health and safety of credit union staff, volunteers and the participants who took part in the event. During the event, participants were able to enter the credit union property and proceed through several stations, where volunteers wearing cloth facemasks distributed giveaways and bentos in a way to limit physical contact and maximize the enjoyment of participants. Those who took part in the event were also required to wear cloth facemasks and remain in their vehicles with seatbelts on to ensure the health and safety of everyone.

“Our first year in Hilo has been a tremendous success,” said Tyson Klask, Hilo Branch manager of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union. “Saturday’s event was an excellent opportunity to show our gratitude to our East Hawaii `ohana for welcoming us over the past 12 months, and we look forward to many more years of helping local families and businesses realize their financial goals.”

“Our Hilo Branch staff and volunteers did a fantastic job welcoming the hundreds of people who took part in Saturday’s event while keeping health and safety guidelines top-of-mind,” said Tricia Buskirk, President/CEO of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union. “This event exemplified our credit union’s continued commitment to serving our island community, especially during times like these, when so many of our neighbors are looking to their financial institutions for help. We’re committed to supporting our members as well as offering opportunities to safely celebrate milestones such as this, our first anniversary in Hilo.”
