Hilo, HI – Hawai‘i Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) is pleased to welcome Alexander R. Kay-Wong as Project Manager.
In this role, Kay-Wong will lead strategic projects that support HCFCU’s continued growth and commitment to serving its members. He will work across departments to plan and implement new products and services, manage vendor relationships, and ensure projects are completed on time and aligned with organizational goals.
Kay-Wong brings more than a decade of experience in project management, operations, and marketing within the credit union industry. Prior to joining HCFCU, he served as Project Manager at HFS Federal Credit Union, where he led the implementation of key initiatives including online account opening, automated real estate closing software, and enhancements to card services and lending tools. He also contributed to major initiatives such as core system conversions, mobile banking development, and credit card program updates.
Earlier in his career, Kay-Wong held roles in marketing and project coordination, where he developed campaigns, led technology initiatives, and supported programs that increased loan growth and community engagement. His background also includes property management and residential construction, giving him a well-rounded perspective on project planning and execution.
Kay-Wong earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo and is actively engaged in both the credit union movement and the broader Hawai‘i Island community. He currently serves as Treasurer for the Hawaii Credit Union League Big Island Chapter and mentors emerging professionals through the League’s Young Professional Committee. He is also a member of the Hawai‘i Island Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his professional involvement, Kay-Wong has volunteered with numerous organizations over the years, including the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, UH Hilo athletics, and Habitat for Humanity. He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society.
Outside of work, Kay-Wong enjoys spending time with his wife, Chelsea, and their two children. He is passionate about physical fitness and enjoys surfing, diving, camping, and staying active. He also has a strong interest in real estate and has been involved in building and investing in residential homes.
