The Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel has appointed Edward Braunlich as its new general manager, the hotel announced Tuesday.

Braunlich brings more than 35 years of experience to the role, having worked in hotels throughout the world. One of his earliest jobs in the industry was at what was then the Hyatt Regency Waikoloa, now the Hilton Waikoloa Village.

His previous leadership positions include serving as the opening general manager of the Gingko Standard Hotel in Ybin, China, and as general manager of the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch in San Antonio, the Hyatt Siesta Key Beach Resort in Sarasota, Florida, and more.

In his new role at Kona Beach Hotel, Braunlich will oversee operations of the 13-acre property, which is comprised of 455 guest rooms, various restaurants, a spa, and an on-site luau.

“In many ways it truly feels like a homecoming of sorts to welcome Ed back to the Big Island,” said Scott Warner, senior vice president of operations of Pacifica Hotels, in a statement. “There is no one who brings the level of expertise, passion and sense of collaboration that Ed brings – he’s truly unmatched as a leader and a passionate hospitality veteran, and we could not be more lucky to have him on our team at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.”
