Animal Enrichment Coordinator

Hourly pay up to $21/hr commensurate with experience.

Do you love working with animals? The Hawaii Island Humane Society is hiring for our most animal-centric position, Animal Enrichment Coordinator. Animal Enrichment Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Daily animal care in shelter
• Provides physical exercise, socialization, and enrichment opportunities for dogs in the shelter
• Provides socialization and enrichment for cats in the shelter
• Participates in the HIHS Shelter Dog Playgroup program
• Helping Facilitate the Field Trips for Shelter Dogs program
• Training and supporting Behavior Volunteers using force-free, science-based methods
• Promoting a Fear-Free Shelters environment for all shelter animals

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in using a computer, emailing, and inputting data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in a related field (animal shelter, veterinary clinic) preferred
• Experience working with dogs and cats preferred
• Must be open to learning
• Must be comfortable working with animals, including large dogs
• Must be physically agile and able to safely handle dogs and cats
• Must be comfortable working in a primarily outdoor setting
• Must demonstrate compassion, patience, and empathy for others
• Must enjoy working in collaboration with a team
