The recent rainfall has made the Waikōloa Dry Forest Preserve uncharacteristically green for September. Not only are our wiliwili trees fully flushed out in green leaves, but some of them are still blooming! This unusual overlap is really beautiful and we’re excited to share it at our huaka’i this week.
Join us this Friday at 5pm for a hike guided by our Executive Director, Jen. Enjoy the trees, the views, and the sunset while learning about our unique plant species and the work that our community is doing to restore the forest. The tour will begin at the front gate and conclude at Hana Hou Hale with pupus and refreshments.
If you plan to join the hike, sign up through our new online form, or
email us directly. Participants should be prepared to hike across uneven terrain, be wearing sturdy, close-toes shoes, have a refillable water bottle and sun protection.
