Our MasterWorks season ends with some truly amazing pieces. From start to finish, it will be a crowd-pleaser. Haydn is considered the “Father of the Symphony,” and what better place to start this performance is with his very first symphony? Experiencing the ‘birth’ of the symphony at the hands of a master will truly be special.

Maestro Dollinger’s incredibly talented wife, Rei Hotoda, will be this concert’s guest artist as she performs Rounds for piano and string orchestra written by critically acclaimed composer Jessie Montgomery. Montgomery’s star has been rising on a rocket ship trajectory, and performing this work for the first time will be a special memory for the artist and conductor, for sure.

Symphony No. 8 by Dvořák has grown to be Maestro Dollinger’s favorite symphony by the composer. The truly outstanding way the composer takes a simple folk melody and creates something much bigger and engaging will be felt throughout the Kahilu Theatre. The truly triumphant ending of the work is the perfect ending to the MasterWorks season.
