Name: Historic Kailua Village: 200th Anniversary of King Kamehameha's PassingDate: May 8, 2019Time: 5:00 AM - 8:00 AM HSTEvent Description:Commemoration of 200th Anniversary of King Kamehameha I Passing @ Alii Drive to Ahuena HeiauAhu`ena Heiau Inc. has initiated planning efforts to commemorate the 200th anniversary of King Kamehameha the Great's passing at Ahu`ena on Kamakahonu Bay in Historic Kailua Village.Starting at 5:00 am on Wednesday, May 8, a procession of chanters and Hawaiian royal societies will walk along Alii Drive from Hale Halawai leading to a sunrise (5:55 am) ceremony with appropriate protocols at Ahu`ena Heiau. The procession will face Hualalai with the Royal Order of Kamehameha I Moku o Kona chanting E Ala E at sunrise. Presentation of ho'okupu will follow. The community is invited to attend the commemoration of King Kamehameha's legacy at this event.
