    Kēhau - Kona Historical Society’s 1st Annual Summer Music & Mo'olelo series - June 26, 2021

Kēhau, in its uncapitalized form, the word means "dew, mist, dewdrops." As a proper noun, it is the name of a "gentle land breeze" of West Hawai’i, as is the people that will come to share their stories in our concert series at the Kalukalu pasture land of the Kona Historical Society. The daytime wind in Kona comes from the ocean and is called Eka. In the evening the wind switches direction and the Kēhau wind comes down from the mountain. Here at Kalukalu, a gentle breeze is always present.

We are so excited to launch this new program which connects people to the importance of personal history through music and storytelling as it relates to the sense of place and connection with the land, specifically the Kona area and Hawai'i. Kēhau provides a unique platform to collect, preserve and share not just the music of Kona but the opportunity to document and archive the oral histories of our Kona musicians.

We invite you to tune in for a special viewing via Zoom, available exclusively to Kona Historical Society members and enjoy the sweet music and stories of Kona.
