[HILO, Hawaiʻi] – Hawaiʻi Island United Way (HIUW) is seeking qualified applicants for the President and Chief Professional Officer position that is currently held by Karen Davis. Davis joined HIUW in 2019 and has played a vital role in the organization's success and emergence as a lead supporting non-profit organization on Hawaiʻi Island. During her time at HIUW, Davis brought in over $400,000 in private grant funding in addition to raising over $2.6 million with her team and volunteers to serve the Hawai‘i island community and developed covid related programs to support families throughout the pandemic. Davis also serves as Chair of the FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Program which has administered more than $800,000 to Hawai‘i county for food and shelter under her leadership. She is leaving the organization to care for personal matters on the mainland and is actively involved in the search for her replacement. Karen will remain onboard through the transition of a new CPO.

The President & Chief Professional officer (CPO) is the principal resource professional to the HIUW Board of Directors and the community. The CPO provides executive-level leadership through representation and advocacy within the community and by raising awareness, building relationships, and raising funds to advance the mission of Hawai’i Island United Way. The CPO plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the staff, programs, and activities of HIUW to ensure that objectives are attained, and plans are fulfilled. Implements Board decisions; provides input to all committees; advises Board on all matters that may affect its planning, prioritizing, and policy- making efforts. Responsible for budget development and implementation; ensure successful community-building efforts; build relationships based on trust with organizational and community stakeholders; provide guidance and support for all Campaign activities; and support all Board and committee efforts.
