    Donkey Mill Art Center Events Focus on the Art of Kapa

    HOLUALOA, HAWAI`I (September 17, 2021) Art enthusiasts and those with a love for the Hawaiian culture are invited to learn more about kapa and the artists dedicated to creating and sharing this fiber art by attending two special events in September.

    The events feature Donkey Mill’s current exhibit, Nā Kapa Ku`ina, and the contemporary kapa art pieces created by seven artists from around Hawai`i - Bernice Akamine, Kamalu du Preez, Puakea Forester, Denby Freeland, Roen Hufford, Kekai Kahokukaalani, and Dalani Tanahy.

    Connect more intimately with the artists and their works, and learn what sets Hawaiian kapa apart from other similar artforms practiced in the Pacific, through either of the following events:

    Saturday, September 25, 2021, 3:30 – 4:30pm
    Curator Tour

    Join Donkey Mill’s Curator, Mina Elison for a tour of Nā Kapa Kuʻina; immerse yourself in the powerful works presented by renowned kapa and fiber artists from around Hawaiʻi.

    Thursday, September 30, 5:00 – 6:30pm 
    Nā Kapa Kuʻina Artist Talk Story

    During this online conversation artists featured in Nā Kapa Ku`ina gather to share their journeys with kapa, their sources of inspiration and what the future of kapa looks like.
