Mahalo for a fun and successful Chamber event!
NETWORKING—Mahalo to all the players who participated in the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce’s 22nd Annual Golf Tournament Friday, May 12 at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Hualalai Golf Course at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.
With breathtaking ocean views and a challenging Hualalai landscape, players enjoyed friendly camaraderie and beautiful weather.
Even though there were two teams scoring 42 points, tie-breaker rules applied, where points scored were determined starting from hole #18 on down. Congratulations to the first place team: Tommy Mason, Duane Bullard, Jared Keanaaina and Korey Pulluaim.
Second place winners with 42 points were Tony Welsh, Alex Austin and Gary Taylor.
Third place winners with 43 points included Riley Smith, Britt Craven, Bill Moore and Tom Witten.
First place winners received engraved tumblers and second and third place winners won engraved coasters. With generous donations including hotel stays, roundtrip airfare, rounds of golf and much more, all players were invited to choose a prize based on their tournament standing.
Women’s Longest Drive was earned by Carol Hanna, while Mike Entenman took the men’s longest swing. Closest to the Pin winner was Jeremiah Dickinson.
Two hole-in-one contests offered the chance to win a 2017 Honda Civic Sedan, courtesy of Big Island Honda Kona, and $10,000 cash courtesy of Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce. Even though there were some close calls, no one holed their drives this year. However, there’s always next year!
Mahalo to Josh Silliman of Mauna Kea Resort for serving as pro in the Beat the Pro contest.
The credit for the successful, quickly sold-out tournament goes to KKCC’s intrepid golf committee of Pam Latinis of MacArthur Sotheby's International Realty, Ross Birch of Island of Hawai'i Visitors Bureau and the Chamber staff, Wendy Laros and Rae Nguyen.
A special mahalo to the other hard-working tourney volunteers: Jen Lawson, Lisa Santana, Keller Laros, Laura Varney, Cari-Rose Aquino, Ron McLoughlin, John Sukup, Fern Gavelek, Tony Prietto, Frank Latinis, Rebecca Logan, Kirstin Kahaloa, Ilihia Gionson and Sharon Sakai.
A Big Mahalo to All Participating Hole Sponsors and Donators
A sincere mahalo to all our hole sponsors and the organizations and businesses who donated, making this a successful 2017 golf tournament.
