    Job Description
    The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce seeks a Marketing Coordinator who enjoys a fun and fast-paced professional environment while supporting the organization’s mission and goals. The organization provides competitive pay and benefits along with training for this full-time position.
    POSITION SUMMARY: The Marketing Coordinator performs marketing and communications tasks along with securing sponsorships, ad sales, donor requests and raising funds to assisting with events and activities. Applicant must be customer oriented, able to multi-task and have strong verbal and written communication skills.

    General tasks:
    • Monitor daily emails, respond promptly and professionally, and forward as necessary. 
    • Answer telephone and provide high quality customer service, give information to callers, register callers for events/activities, transfer calls to appropriate individuals and take/check messages.
    • Write business letters, memos, and other correspondence as needed.
    • Operate computers for various applications such as payment processing, database management, word processing, spreadsheets and more.
    • Operate office equipment such as the phone system, copier, scanner and postage machine.  
    • Communicate both verbally and in writing the mission and objectives of the organization and the services and benefits offered with membership, events, fundraisers, and other activities.
    • Greet guests that visit the Chamber office and refer member services or products.
    • Other duties as may be assigned or deemed necessary.
    • Execute the tasks in the Chamber’s annual marketing strategy.
    • Coordinate marketing and promotional services provided to members. This includes, but is not limited to advertisements in the Chamber’s annual membership directory and business magazine, member advertisements sent to the membership in a monthly email, posting member press releases and/or job postings or updating the Chamber’s community calendar with member activities.
    • Manage the Chamber’s social media marketing with platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
    • Create the email layout and corresponding support content for the weekly newsletter called Kona-Kohala Connections.
    • Master an industry specific member management system called ChamberMaster for communications, marketing, event registration and website edits.
    • Assist with content management of Chamber’s website.
    • Utilize programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator to create marketing materials.
    • Assist with capturing images and managing the Chamber’s image library.
    Events, Fundraisers, Programs and Activities:
    • Coordinate all marketing and promotions for events, fundraisers, programs or activities. This includes drafting advertisements, promotional flyers and press releases along with social media posts and website updates.
    • Organize all sponsorship activities for events including soliciting sponsors, executing the transaction and implementing the marketing and promotional services listed for the sponsorship.
    • Manage the Chamber’s enhanced membership program called Aliʻi Circle including promoting the program, soliciting participants, securing the transaction and executing the benefits and services of this program for each Aliʻi Circle member.
    • Coordinate donations and implement promotional benefits for donors.
    • Attend and work at monthly and annual events, fundraisers and activities.  
    Chamber Meetings:
    • Work as the staff liaison to the Marketing and Membership Committee.
    • Assist with committee agenda preparation and minutes as needed.
    • Assist with reports or other support documents for Chamber meetings as needed.
    Working conditions and physical demands: Professional business office environment. Flexible with physical requirements; some events may require set-up of tables, chairs, lifting boxes and other physical activity. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
    • High school diploma.
    • 3 years work experience in related field.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Attention to detail, dependable, pleasant and cooperative.
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and comfortable in a fast-paced office environment.
    • Working knowledge of basic office procedures, systems, and equipment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, email correspondence with Outlook and Gmail.
    • Comfortable using photo image editing, graphic design and desktop publishing software along with learning an industry specific customer relations management system.
    • High standard of excellence.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Four year degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or other related field.
    • 5 or more years of work experience in related field.
    • Experience working in a non-profit organization or Chamber of Commerce.
