Once again, Big Island Honda, Lavaman and PATH are teaming up to bring you the latest news in transportation and active living.

Big Island Honda is eager to share Honda’s hybrid technology that is hitting its stride and taking over the hybrid market. With the new amazing designs, you no longer have to drive a hybrid vehicle that stands out like a sore thumb. The new lineup has sleek sporty designs that will make you fall in love with driving a hybrid and make you really appreciate it at the pump.

Unlike other types of hybrids being developed, Honda's Integrated Motor Assist system incorporates a small and extremely efficient VTEC internal-combustion engine, an ultra-thin electric motor-generator, ultra capacitors, and a continuously variable transmission to achieve better than 70 mpg. The integrated hybrid power plant uses the fuel-thrifty internal-combustion engine for primary power and the electric motor for assistance as needed. Come to the After Hours and check them out!

LavaKids and LavaTeens are the non-profit arms of the Lavaman Triathlon with the goal of promoting Healthy and Active Life Styles for our Island youth.  Through a combination of free and low cost programs, LavaKids provides a combination of clinics, events, activities & camps to help to reach for kids and their families on The Big Island.  This Christmas Break, we will be offering a camp for elementary and middle school kids which will be called Splash, Spin & Run which will work on swimming skills, safe cycling techniques, running skills and the importance of stretching and nutrition in building these diciplines. Come and meet our new Program Director Jennie Barto who will be at our Chamber After Hours to introduce this program and talk to those who would like additional information or even become involved as volunteers or sponsors.

PATH is excited to announce that 3 additional bikeshare stations will be installed in early 2019, thanks to our sponsors Kona Commons, Brewer’s Block and West Hawaii Community Health Center. We will also unveil our new initiative, Vision Zero, which we are proposing to the County. Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all.
