    Event Description:

Annual King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade
June 8, 2019 at the Historic Kailua Village on the Big Island of Hawai‘i. This year’s parade theme is “Ka Mo‘i Kamehameha Nui”, translated: “Kamehameha, the Sovereign Ruler of All.” The Hawaiian tradition of pāʻū riding, celebrates the paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) traditions introduced in the 1820s. Resplendent in the foliage and colors of each island, beautiful women and handsome men make their way along the Parade route. The parade begins at 9:00 a.m. from the Royal Kona Resort along Aliʻi Drive, past Kamakahonu by the pier, then up Palani Road to Kuakini Highway.

After the parade, enjoy the Ho‘olaule‘a (music and art festival) at Hulihe‘e Palace. From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, there will be music, crafts, and food. Enjoy local food, see masters create traditional arts and crafts, watch beautiful hula dancers and listen to award-winning Hawaiian musicians.
