WHY: Public Transportation Reduces Traffic Congestion Making It Safer for Bicyclist and Pedestrians and Reducing Our Carbon Footprint.

Public transit is a key element of a thriving community. Households with nearby public transit drive an average of 4,400 fewer miles than households with no access to public transit.

Kahilu Theatre: Glen Miller Orchestra (Sun. 12 Nov, 2017 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

 We are incredibly excited to announce the return of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. On Sunday, November 12, we will celebrate the unforgettable music of the 1940’s and pay a special tribute to our veterans. The last time the Orchestra performed for us was a joyful occasion that brought hundreds of Big Island folks to dress up, tap their toes and dance to fabulous and famous swing music. Come hear updates and network with your fellow Chamber members while enjoying delicious pupus from all of the Kings' Shops restaurants - Roy's Waikoloa Bar & Grill, The Koa Table, A-Bay's Island Grill and Island Fish & Chips. Island favorite and multiple Na Hoku Hanohano award winner, John Keawe, will be providing soothing background music for the night.

Enter the event via The Koa Table by Chef Ippy, located on the Macy's side of the shopping center, as you head toward the Center Stage. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Kiwanis Club of Kailua-Kona Meeting (Wed. 15 Nov, 2017 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm)

Kiwanis Club of Kailua-Kona will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, Peacock Grill, at the Makalei Golf Club, 72-3890 Hawaii Belt Road, Kailua-Kona, 808-325-6625.  All visiting Kiwanis and prospective members are invited to attend.  The speaker will be Joni Ackerman, Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Hi District Governor with special guests Roy Kagawa, Kiwanis Division 22 Lieutenant Governor and Audrey Kagawa, Past Lieutenant Governor.

Aloha, know anyone who may be interested in coming back to college or may want to know more about the programs offered at HawCC-Palamanui as well as Distance Based Higher Education Opportunities through the University Center West Hawai'i? 
If yes, send them down to the Kailua-Kona Library on Friday, Nov 17, from 2-4:30 p.m. or on Saturday, Nov 18, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.for the November Community Talk Story sessions.  I will be available to Talk Story with the community as well as offer kokua to anyone wanting to apply online for HawCC, UH Hilo or UH West Oahu.  The DEADLINE for Spring Application is quickly approaching (Dec 15 for HawCC and Dec 1 for the Universities).
