Shidler College of Business to host distance learning info meeting in Kona

The University Center at Pālamanui and the Shidler College of Business (University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa) will host a community informational meeting in Kona on October 27. The meeting will focus on the Distance Learning Executive MBA and the Masters of Human Resource Management (MHRM) programs offered by Shidler.

The Distance Learning Executive MBA program combines intensive residential study modules at UH Mānoa augmented with state-of-the-art distance learning technology that transmits video and audio through the internet in real time. The 22-month program is intended for professionals living on the neighbor islands and for military personnel on O‘ahu.

The program enables students to expand their business perspectives, sharpen their business skills, build professional networks and earn their MBA degrees – all without leaving home. In addition, the EMBA offers an optional Health Care Management Track. The program is fully accredited by AACSB International and is the only graduate business program in the State of Hawai‘i ranked by U.S. News & World Report.

The 48-credit program offers a five-day residential weekend and 16 Saturday classes at UH Mānoa. The program consists of 21 core and elective online courses concluding with a capstone course. Classes are held online on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and alternating Saturdays from 8 a.m.-12 noon.

Information will also be shared about the MHRM program, which is a 16-month, 30 credit graduate program delivered through videoconferencing format. Classes are held Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. and alternating Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

KONA – The University Center at Pālamanui will host a Degree Preparation Workshop at the new Hawai‘i Community College – Pālamanui campus on Tuesday, Nov. 10 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

 

The University Center at Pālamanui delivers over 40 degree and certificate programs from across the 10-campus University of Hawai‘i system. That means West Hawai‘i residents can obtain degrees from UH Mānoa, UH Hilo and UH West O‘ahu while living in West Hawai‘i. The University Center at Pālamanui provides the local student support for the distance learning degrees offered through the center.

The MSW Distance Education Option is a three-year program that includes classes delivered via interactive television, computer-based delivery, face-to-face onsite, and hybrid approaches, as well as completion of field practicum in your community.

Natural Disaster Awareness for Caregivers Kona

CCECS’ Class Offered: Natural Disaster Awareness for Caregivers Kona

 

The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) is pleased to announce that we're partnering with the Natural Disaster Preparedness and Training Center (NDPTC) to offer free FEMA certified natural disaster education classes for the Hawai'i Island community.  The first of these classes will be Natural Disaster Awareness for Caregivers of Senior Citizens. 

 

The class will be offered on Monday, December 7 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at the West Hawaii Civic Center. Attached is a flier with more information.

 

We recognize that many people provide care to someone else as a career choice and/or personal commitment, which is why we're sharing this information broadly. Please note that the official name of the course is Natural Disaster Awareness for Caregivers for Senior Citizens. However, much of the caregiving information is universally applicable to populations requiring care.

Caregivers Class Leadership Training Workshop

Powerful Tools for Caregivers Class Leader Training Workshop


In an effort to expand its base of community volunteers, Hawai`i Community Caregiver Network is sponsoring a two-day Class Leader Training Workshop on Powerful Tools for Caregivers (PTC). The workshop will be held January 14-15, 2016 from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm at Regency at Hualalai, 75-181 Hualalai Road, Kailua Kona, HI, 96740. A community grant from West Hawai`i Healthcare Council is subsidizing the cost of tuition and materials for local residents. Participants must be Hawai`i residents who will agree to co-lead two PTC class series for family caregivers within a year after completion of the Class Leader Training workshop. Registration is limited to ten participants and advance registration is required. Walk-in registration will not be available.
